These unbelievable pics, courtesy of Jennifer Dickinson, Dawie Minaar and Kobus Bekker from Wilderness Safaris, were taken over the last couple of weeks in the Sossusvlei region of Namibia's Namib Desert where they have been experiencing what appears to be the most rainfall in recorded history.
The usually dry and world-renowned landscape with its epic panoramas has been transformed into a totally uncharacteristic water wonderland with large pans of water filling the areas at the base of some the world's tallest dunes. The Tsauchab river has also been flowing strongly and access to the mighty dunes has been limited.
With exceptionally low annual rainfall in this region the recent floods have meant that visitors to Sossusvlei have been witnessing a truly once-in-a-lifetime event!

(Special thanks to Jennifer Dickinson, Dawie Minaar and Kobus Bekker for the images)
