Chobe Game Lodge, Chobe Region, Botswana

Picturesquely situated 100 km west of the Victoria Falls, overlooking the Chobe River and the Caprivi floodplains. Chobe Game Lodge is the only permanent safari lodge within the Chobe National Park

Enjoy an authentic African safari at Chobe Game Lodge in Botswana's iconic Chobe National Park. Located on the banks of the Chobe River in the north eastern corner of Chobe National Park, Chobe Game Lodge is the only permanent game lodge within the boundaries of a park which is known worldwide for its incredible abundance of wildlife.

Guests have a wealth of activities to choose from, including morning and afternoon game drives, and late morning, lunchtime and sunset Chobe River cruises. Open vehicle game drives are conducted by Chobe Game Lodge's team of expert guides - who are almost exclusively female - and take in the numerous ecosystems for which Chobe National Park is renowned. Chobe National Park is home to the largest concentration of elephants on earth - said to number up to 90,000 or three quarters of Botswana's elephant population - and breeding herds of elephants in their thousands line the Serondella river front area, drinking, bathing and playing at the water's edge.

Further inland are riverine woodlands and grassy plains, the only place in Botswana where the puku antelope can be seen. The plains also feature the rare roan, sable, red lechwe and bushbuck antelopes and are frequented by giraffes, buffalos, zebras, lions, leopards, and a healthy population of the endangered African wild dog. In fact, wildlife at Chobe National Park is so naturally prevalent that visitors are frequently taken aback at the sheer abundance of animals.

Chobe River cruises provide a relaxing way - and a different perspective - to view the park's wildlife. Birdlife in Chobe National Park is unparalleled and guests on a cruise see a wide variety including Pel's Fishing Owl, African Skimmers, Fish Eagles, Pied and Malachite Kingfishers, Marabou Storks, Carmine Bee Eaters, Lilac Breasted Rollers and more. Meanwhile thousands of elephants line the river banks, huge crocodiles bask in the sunshine and hundreds of hippos lie submerged in the cool waters.

After each activity, guests return to the Chobe Game Lodge where they can enjoy the landscaped gardens, large swimming pool, expansive pool terrace, gym and spa. The lodge has two bars and a pool table room, a star gazing deck and a riverbank boma where a Marimba band will often entertain guests late into the night under a mahogany canopy. Guests can also marvel at Chobe's truly spectacular sunsets from the raised river-side viewing deck which overlooks the Chobe River across to Namibia.

Each of Chobe Game Lodge's 48 rooms is fully air-conditioned and features complimentary mini-bars. Rooms are furnished with hand crafted Rhodesian teak pieces and the walls are decorated with original African carvings and paintings. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, and a terrace or river facing balcony, while four luxury suites also enjoy a spacious lounge area, secluded river facing terrace and private swimming pool.

Stays at Chobe Game Lodge include all meals, drinks, scheduled game viewing activities, laundry and park entry fees.
