Jacana Camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana
Jacana Camp is situated within the private Jao Concession, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana's famous Okavango Delta. This is a true Okavango Delta water camp, set on an island surrounded by the seasonal floodplain and papyrus swamps. The dining area is on an elevated platform between two huge sycamore fig trees and downstairs is the social bar and lounge, which facilitates an open camp fire area and a wide open deck, leading off to the refreshing plunge pool.
The 5 Meru-style tents are constructed on raised wooden decks, offering elevated views of the Delta. These strong canvas structures house king or twin beds which are draped with light weight quality linens and surrounded by classic furnishings and soft earth tones. The en-suite bathrooms feature roofless showers which are lit by dappled sunlight through the trees, or by the stars at night. All the tents are glass-fronted and the double doors open out to private viewing decks.
This region offers the most amazing wildlife and birding which you can enjoy from the silent vantage point of a Mokoro as you glide through the papyrus-fringed channels. Walking safaris and game drives are conducted during September and May, when the floodwaters have receded and you can spend hours viewing the game activity from the platform hides within the Jao Concession. Your stay at Jacana Camp includes all meals, local drinks and daily activities.
