Marlin Lodge lies on Benguerra Island in the Bazaruto Archipelago amidst pristine island shorelines, dhow sails and glorious sunsets. Dotted along Flamingo Bay, each of Marlin Lodge's 17 air-conditioned seascape suites has a veranda with steps leading down to a private salaon a powder white beach that is gently lapped by the warm blue Indian Ocean.
Incorporating Mozambican hardwood, reed-clad brick walls and thatched roofs Marlin Lodge has a distinctly African style. The natural plant life is carefully preserved by elevated wooden walkways that connect the suites to the spacious main building featuring two lounges (one with limited channel satellite TV and DVD's), bar, dining area and freshwater pool. When the tide goes out, and it goes out some distance, there are plenty of shady spots where guests can enjoy the birdlife along the tideline.
In true island style Marlin Lodge offers a number of romantic dining venues. Enjoy a candle lit beach barbeque; dine under the stars beside the pool, in the dining room or privately on your veranda. For those wanting to relax in an Eden-like environment, nothing beats a beach picnic. Prepared by talented chefs the cuisine at Marlin Lodge offers an abundance of seafood accompanied by vegetables and herbs from the garden.
There is far more to a stay at Marlin Lodge than just lying on the beach or by the pool. Explore the islands diverse ecology of sand dunes, savannah, freshwater lakes, wetlands, acacia woodlands and forests by open vehicle or on horseback. The warm tropical waters of the Bazaruto Archipelago feature beautiful coral reefs with an astounding array of marine life. Marlin Lodge has a fully equipped 5 star PADI Dive and Tackle Centre. There are a number of different dive sites of varying depths that will suit all levels of diving experience and there is no doubt snorkelers will appreciate the outstanding beauty of Two Mile Reef. During the months of July - September whale watching excursions can be arranged (at additional cost and with a minimum 4 guests).
The Bazaruto Archipelago is heralded as one of the greatest game fishing sites in the Indian Ocean. Species such as Sailfish, Blue and Black Marlin and Kingfish can be found roaming deep beneath the waters.
