Guludo Beach Lodge, Quirimbas Archipelago, Mozambique

Situated on the mainland on 12km of deserted powder-white sand in the Quirimbas National Park, Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique

Guludo is a tropical, barefoot beach paradise; 12km of deserted powder-white sand nestled between the dazzling azure Indian Ocean and wild African bush, in the Quirimbas National Park, northern Mozambique. Accommodation provides everything you need and nothing you don't! With high roofs, gentle sea breezes, alfresco en-suite bathrooms and a stunning 'loo with a view'; barefoot luxury has never felt more indulgent. Award-winning bandas have been designed to ingeniously blend luxury with a mix of traditional and contemporary styles and with the highest of environmental and social integrity.

The essence of Guludo is relaxation and discovery. Time is spent drifting over magnificent coral reefs, visiting nearby islands, mingling in the local village and watching humpback whales as they pass by Guludo's shores from July until early November. Guludo has a full PADI dive centre with excellent equipment and tuition which caters for novices through to experienced divers. Activities include; scuba diving and snorkelling amongst some of the most pristine coral reefs in the world, explorations of the deserted Rolas Island, cultural tours of Ibo Island, hikes to the bush lookout point, sunset sails, beach archery, village football, visits to Pangane Beach and visiting community projects.

Guludo is a great place for families to escape today's hectic life while getting back to nature and enjoying some quality family time. The team at Guludo is excellent with children and thoroughly enjoys having families to stay; always going the extra mile to help take the pressure off parents as well as entertaining the children. Guludo's long, safe, gently sloping beach is the perfect playground for children of all ages. There is plenty to keep a family busy, with most families staying one to two weeks and endless opportunities for children to interact with local children and gain an insight into local life.

Guludo is also responsible tourism at its finest, even while snoozing in your hammock you are helping to relieve poverty. Guludo's well-established charity, Nema Foundation, works with local communities focusing on education (feeding 500 school children a day, building primary schools, giving scholarships), health (tackling malaria, HIV, malnutrition and infant mortality), water (29 water points now complete), enterprise (3 successful craft groups) and conservation (marine and agricultural).
