Highlights: Situated on the best beach in Vilanculos
Vilanculos Beach Lodge is set on a beautiful strand of beach in Vilanculos, Mozambique, the gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago. Twenty four thatched chalets are situated on a ridge affording guests magnificent Indian Ocean views from their bedrooms. Decor is stylish and contemporary, with natural indigenous elements such as thatch and local hardwood sambiri poles lending an African flair. The main lodge building houses the lounge, reception, bar and restaurant and large open passages leadout onto the gardens, again allowing for uninterrupted views of the sea.
The well-kept gardens are an appealing blend of indigenous bush on the slopes around the chalets and rolling green lawns peppered with palm trees surrounding the main lodge building, infinity pool and pool bar. Scattered paved areas amongst the trees offer quiet shaded areas for drinks, dining al fresco or to simply relax.
Children are welcomeand there is a range of activities to delight guests of all ages. The sea is calm and shallow in front of the lodge and is ideal for swimming and paddling - it should be noted the tide can go out about 1km at neap tide and slightly less on normal tides. Non-motorized activities include sea kayaks, paddle skis, soccer and beach volleyball. The Lodge has a small fleet of boats for private charter and guests may also engage in various watersports, parasailing and horse or camel rides. Vilanculos is proving to be a popular kite surfing destination, particularly between the months of September and February.
Vilanculos Beach Lodge is easily accessible - only five miles from an international airport with flights departing to and from Johannesburg and Maputo on a daily basis.
