Africa House was originally built by Liz and Phil Biden as their private bush oasis. It didn't take long before they were persuaded to share it with the world's discerning travellers and for this we are very thankful! A mere five minute walk or two minute drive from Royal Malewane, the rest of the world truly begins to melt away as you enter this tranquil space. From the moment you walk through the magnificent four meter high North African front door this stunning home opens itself up to you. From the central courtyard with its cool water feature, casitas and covered veranda you enter the indoor living and dining areas with well-equipped open plan kitchen. Glass doors lead out onto a second covered veranda where one can stretch out and relax on sumptuous African day beds, sit back and enjoy undisturbed culinary adventures or cool off in an infinity pool that overhangs a pristine riverine system.
Each of the six palatial en-suite bedrooms opens onto their own deck, with private outdoor showers overlooking the untamed African bush. The teak internal bedroom doors were sourced from Lamu and the carved four poster beds once called Mombasa home. The furnishings are eclectic, with brightly coloured silks and leathers sitting comfortably alongside expensive antiques, Persian rugs and exotic objects d'art. It is evident that everything has been lovingly sourced and collected from the stylish owner's world-wide travels.
Africa House has its own staff compliment, including a game ranger, tracker and chef to maintain the same services and standards of the nearby Royal Malewane. Guests are welcome to make use of the Royal Malewane shop and award-winning spa with its therapeutic healing waters.
Africa House is one of Africa's most beautiful bush villas and is the perfect bush retreat for those who value privacy, personalised service and great game viewing.
