Old Mondoro, Lower Zambezi, Zambia

Set in a grove of Acacia trees overlooking a maze of hippo inhabited islands and channels in the Lower Zambezi National Park

Old Mondoro is privately tucked away, deep in the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia. This intimate safari camp is set in a grove of tall Acacia trees on the banks of the Zambezi River. The camp is constructed of canvas and natural materials creating a remote "real" bush atmosphere. The main guest area is a communal open sided space, covered by canvas. The dining section has low woven reed boundary walls, while the wicker lounge flows out to a totally open deck at the rivers edge.

The 4 tented rooms are adventurous in design and are placed apart from each other for maximum privacy. They are set on wooden platforms and have canvas roofs, with low reed walls, leaving wide sections open to the wild. The king or twin beds are draped in mosquito nets and Egyptian cotton linens and the en-suite bathrooms comprise wash basins, outdoor showers and "splash-tubs". Each room has a shaded timber sun deck, complete with a comfy daybed.

Enjoy this pristine wilderness on game drives and boat cruises. Go canoeing or try your hand at tiger fishing. Alternatively, simply sit back and watch the activities within this maze of hippo-inhabited islands and channels. Your stay at Old Mondoro includes all meals, local drinks, activities and park fees.
