Somalisa Acacia, Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Located in the heart of Hwange National Park, along the Kennedy vlei line on the Somalisa flood plains

Situated in a huge private concession in the heart of Hwange National Park, Somalisa Acacia has been specially designed to cater for small family groups and is the perfect choice for those requiring a private experience shared with a maximum of eight people.

Set under the canopy of a grove of acacias on the western side of Somalisa Camp this intimate hideaway is a 'camp within a camp'. With its own team comprising of professional guide, chef, waiter and housekeeper it is a totally self-contained camp that prides itself on its African atmosphere, attention to detail and genuinely warm personalised service. The staff love children and when families are in camp activities can be adapted to suit the children thus keeping the whole family happy.

Offering simplistic luxury three well designed twin bedded tents and one family tent are set on slightly raised decks. Each tent has en suite bathroom facilities that include a flush toilet and hot and cold running showers.

The camp looks out onto a small water hole that is frequented by large herds of big game which include buffalo, elephant, kudu, zebra, giraffe and lion. Typical of a classic bush camp the guest areas consist of a dining and lounge area with a small splash pool enabling one to cool off during the heat of the day. That is the plan but there is always a chance the elephants will adopt the pool for themselves! At Somalisa Acacia there is no doubt one is close to nature.

Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe's oldest and largest national park. It supports all the Big Five but it's the elephants that rule supreme as Hwange is one of the few great elephant sanctuaries life in Africa. The park boasts over 100 different mammal species and 400 species of birds. Activities on offer are game drives and walking excursions, conducted by the camp's professional guides. Most activities take place in the Somalisa private concession, where it is possible to drive off-road, but with easy access to other parts of the park.
