-The aim of Uthando South Africa  is thus twofold :

- To provide funding and assistance to grass roots, community based, sustainable, innovative and empowerment projects in the most destitute and marginalised communities in South Africa.

- Through Field Trips, to provide tourists with an authentic introduction to the social problems confronting so many South Africans, while showcasing the innovative and truly inspirational ways in which these problems are being handled.

The correct name for the tour is a Philanthropic Cultural Tours :

Uthando makes a per person donation to each project visited, and generally on each tour we visit 3 projects. The price also includes tea and coffee, which we pay R50.00 per person to a micro business located in one of the wonderful garden projects in the township.

These tours offer an indepth insight into the history of South Africa, contextualizing the townships, social issues facing SA, issues related to politics, economy, health etc etc….BUT importantly also showcasing very interesting social development projects and meeting the amazing and inspirational people working at these projects. Simply by coming on tour they are engaged in philanthropy as the projects receive a per person donation.

Tours are particularly suitable for study groups, student groups and people who are socially aware and want an authentic cultural and philanthropic experience.
