Selinda Canoe Trail, Selinda, Botswana

The only experience of its kind in Botswana the Selinda Canoe Trail harkens back to the spirit of safaris of old when days were spent on impromptu exploration and each night was spent camping along the banks of a river.

This 4 day/3 night adventure is about taking oneself out of the "hustle and bustle" of everyday life as you paddle along the mysterious and winding waterway of the Selinda Spillway from the Okavango Delta to the Linyanti, in north eastern Botswana.  Stunning beautiful this area is well known for elephant, buffalo, sable, roan, wild dog and it is possible to encounter cheetah, lion, leopard and a variety of other species. The Spillway is also a birding paradise.

The Selinda Canoe Trail runs from late May to early October, when the annual flooding of the Selinda Spillway is at the highest, with guaranteed weekly departures of a maximum of eight guests accompanied by an experienced guide.  Canoeists paddle in sturdy Canadian canoes, stopping along the river bank to discover the wildlife on impromptu walks.  Stops are not pre-arranged and nights are spent camping in fly camps under the stars on an island where scrumptious meals are cooked and served around the camp fire.
