Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha (meaning rough water) is a lovely freshwater lake. As the Lake is quite wide, the waters are shallow, with a dept of about 5 meters. At the beginning of the 20th Century, Naivasha completely dried up and disappeared, until heavy rains a few years later caused the lake to return to its former glory. Wind and storms can cause the Lake to become rough with high waves. The Lake is surrounded by forests of fever trees which is a haven for birds, making Naivasha a prime birding destination. The Lake also draws a wide range of game including giraffe, buffalo, large hippos and Columbus monkeys from the Fever Tree tops.
