Etosha Region

One of Namibia's main tourist attractions, situated in the central north, and one of the largest parks in Africa, Etosha National Park covers some 22 270km². It owes its unique landscape to the Etosha Pan, a vast shallow depression of approximately 5 000km². A series of waterholes along the southern edge of the pan guarantee rewarding and often spectacular game viewing. There are many private lodges and guest farms situated close enough to Etosha to allow for day excursions into the park. Alternatively visitors can actually stay inside the park itself at one of three rest camps: Okaukuejo, favoured for its floodlit waterhole for prime night sightings; Namutoni, characterised by the historic fort around which it is centerd: and Halali, situated halfway between the two.
