Swakopmund

Offering a welcome respite from the heat of the interior, this seaside resort offers a restful and relaxing atmosphere. Promenades, palm trees and beautiful public gardens are hedged by desert and sea and offers a wide choice of hotels, pensions, restaurants and coffee shops selling traditional German cakes and pastries. Much of the distinct German colonial character has been preserved. Attractions range from charming old buildings, tours featuring the unique landscapes of the Namib, Swakopmund Museum, the tannery, which manufactures well-known leather, as well as the local brewery, which produces some of Namibia's finest beer.
