Cape Town

Cape Town is fondly known as South Africa's "Mother City", it is the oldest city in South Africa, with a cultural mixture of European, Malay and African heritage spanning more than 300 years. Be sure to do an excursion up Table Mountain, the icon of the city. Stroll around the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, a unique shopping and dining experience set in the scenic working harbour of Table Bay. Visit Robben Island, the former maximum security prison, where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 27 years. Take time to see the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, acclaimed as one of the great botanical gardens of the world. Go back in time to the Cultural History Museum and the Castle of Good Hope, the centre of Cape Town's civilian, administrative and military life in 1678. The Greenmarket Square offers the best selection of authentically local arts and crafts. Lovers of the arts are in close proximity to the City Hall and Artscape Theatre showcasing a variety of opera, ballet, and drama. While Long Street buzzes with nightlife and some of Cape Town's best wine bars, restaurants and dance clubs.
