Garden Route

The Garden Route is a region of great natural beauty and contrasts and not a land of manicured gardens as many imagine! With its stunning Indian Ocean coastline, beautiful beaches, gentle bays, marine reserves, floral kingdoms, superb whale and dolphin sightings, breath-taking mountain ranges, indigenous forests and freshwater lakes it is hardly surprising the Garden Route is described as South Africa's Garden of Eden!!!
From Mossel Bay in the west to Storms River in the east the Garden Route encompasses the picturesque and hospitable holiday towns of George, Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, including Oudtshoorn, where the landscape undergoes a remarkable change and becomes semi desert ideally suited to ostrich farming that gives the town its fame.
With an overwhelming choice of affordable places to stay, numerous sights waiting to be explored and a myriad of outdoor activities that will appeal to all age groups, a journey along the Garden Route should be a leisurely one. The biggest decision for visitors should be where and how often to stop and how long they should spend on exploring this spectacular area.
With warm summers and mild winters the Garden Route is a year round destination. Soak up the sun on unspoilt golden beaches, enjoy oysters and champagne, explore the abundance of nature reserves, hike through indigenous forests, glide through the treetops on a canopy tour, earn the T-shirt for the world's highest bungy jump and race an ostrich. For golf fanatics there is a huge choice of scenic 18 hole golf courses that cater for all player levels.
Consider extending your Garden Route sojourn to spend a couple of days on safari at an Eastern Cape game reserve.
